Q: While I was watering my shrubs today I noticed a hole in my brick. After looking closer I found many holes spaced across the brick front of my home. Did my builder miss something?

A: The holes that you found were placed there by the mason as part of good construction practices. These holes are called “weep holes” and are designed to let any moisture between the brick and frame “weep” out. In addition the weep holes permit air circulation which keeps unwanted mold from growing behind the brick. You can relax! Your builder did it right.
